The Green Home Program is a FREE program for residents of West Bolton to save money, improve home comfort and aesthetics, and help the environment by reducing home energy, water use and by implementing eco-landscaping.

The Green Home Program provides West Bolton SNAP residents with access to:

  • One-on-one consultations (in-person* or virtual/phone) with a TRCA staff member, OR a self-guided home survey to identify homeowner interests, potential home retrofits, and available incentive or rebate programs
  • A series of expert-led online and/or in-person workshops to support homeowners in implementation of home retrofits
  • Customized how-to home retrofit and eco-landscaping resources
  • FREE exclusive incentives and giveaways

*All in-person consultations will be held indoors and/or outdoors. Staff and workshop facilitators will take all measures and precautionary steps to protect participants from COVID-19.

Do You Live in the West Bolton SNAP Neighbourhood?

The Green Home Program is currently available ONLY for residents in the West Bolton SNAP area (see map below). If your household is located outside this neighbourhood, you may participate in our free expert-led online and/or in-person workshops offered as part of the program (see below). However, home consultations and program-specific incentives are available only to homes located within the West Bolton SNAP boundaries.

Exclusive Incentives and Giveaways

The Green Home Program provides incentives to West Bolton SNAP residents to help get you started on your own green home projects.

West Bolton SNAP residents who sign up for and complete a one-on-one consultation by September 1, 2023 are eligible, and will automatically be entered into a prize draw.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have participated in the West Bolton Green SNAP Home Program in the past, you will also be eligible to enter the prize draw. For those who have participated previously and would be like to be entered, please email Meredith.Gibson@trca.ca with your full name and indicate which of the prizes you are interested in.

  • 1 of 5 Albion Hills Community Farm produce boxes (value: $100)

WORKSHOPS

Register to participate in any of the following expert-led online and/or in-person workshops that will provide you with the information to help get you started on completing your green home projects.

All workshop participants who live in the West Bolton SNAP neighbourhood will be entered in a draw for a door prize. The prize will be a $25 gift card to a local nursery or hardware store of your choice.

What’s the Fuss about Heat Pumps?

Presenter: Gil Amdurski, Project Coordinator, Sustainable Technologies Evaluation Program (STEP), TRCA

In this expert-led webinar, find out how air source heat pumps work and how they can lower your carbon footprint as well as your home heating and cooling bills.

This event will feature information on how to start the process of getting a heat pump, as well as information about different heat pump systems installed in the Greater Toronto Area. You will also hear feedback from a local homeowner who installed a heat pump system in their own home.

Please note that this workshop is geared towards single-family homeowners (detached, semi-detached, townhome) who are currently living in the Town of Caledon, but is open to anyone interested in learning about heat pumps.

Want to learn more about green spaces in your neighbourhood? Join West Bolton SNAP and Community Outreach and Education at this hands-on workshop to learn about the new rain garden installed at Adam Wallace Memorial Park and how to create the right rain garden for your property. You will also hear feedback from a local Bolton homeowner who installed a rain garden on their property!

Rain gardens are beautiful outdoor spaces with a lot going on just below the surface. Their special design absorbs excess rainwater, filtering it as it returns to the soil.

Participants will receive a free copy of the Greening Your Grounds Homeowner’s Guide.

This workshop is intended for ages 6+ and will include activities and concepts that are geared to a family audience.

Windfall Ecology Centre is a leader in the home energy evaluation field. They have been conducting EnerGuide Home Energy Evaluations since 2001, and as a member of Green Communities Canada have helped pioneer and develop home energy programs across Canada.
