Find out how air-source heat pumps can lower your carbon footprint as well as your home heating and cooling bills.

The air-source heat pump (ASHP) is a relatively new technology for home heating and cooling that’s becoming more and more popular. In this free interactive workshop, TRCA’s Gil Amdurski teaches us about ASHP retrofits in existing homes, with an emphasis on hybrid heating systems that couple a low-cost ASHP with a high-efficiency natural gas furnace.

You’ll learn about the upfront costs, utility bill impacts, and carbon savings from three hybrid heating systems recently installed in the Greater Toronto Area — and discover how to achieve deep carbon savings for your home at the lowest possible cost.

Invasive plants overtaking your yard or garden can be a pain! Join us to learn all about invasive species and how to recognize and manage them on your property.

In this 90 minute webinar, TRCA’s Christopher Bialek provides an in-depth look at common invasive species we may find encroaching on our backyards — including garlic mustard, dog strangling vine, and Japanese knotweed.

Chris will walk us through methods for removal, followed by a look at remediation and replacement plants.

Home Energy Saving Workshop – Tuesday November 8 at 7:00 p.m.

Home Energy Saving Workshop

Presenter: Steven Dixon and Adam Dixon

This free interactive workshop, led by Stephen and Adam Dixon, will show us ways to save energy at home. Stephen and Adam will show a series of how-to videos and discuss different energy saving tips and tricks useful for around the house.

Stephen Dixon has, for over 37 years, provided energy management services to a broad range of industrial, commercial, institutional, and utility organizations. Broadly recognized as a leader in energy management training, his focus is simple: to empower all he works with to use energy more effectively by developing individual skills, organizational best practices, and tools for energy management.

Adam Dixon brings a new, fresh approach to energy management, specializing in energy performance analysis and residential sector services. He also works behind the scenes as an energy analyst in support for energy audits, while also providing support to the development of TdS Dixon’s well known energy training services.
