At Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), community engagement is a critical component of developing a sustainable city region.

We are shifting our education and stewardship delivery approach to a community engagement and learning model. The Community Engagement and Learning Model represents a move away from a program-specific delivery model to an integrated learning model where specific community needs are addressed through thoughtful planning, engagement and service delivery.

The Community Engagement Strategy 2017-2027 is a document that guides and directs TRCA’s efforts to work with watershed residents, interest groups partners and other stakeholders to realize The Living City Vision. You can read or download the document below.

The Vision:
Residents in our watershed are contributing to the realization of The Living City vision in ways that are appropriate and meaningful to them. Communities are empowered to take collective ownership and action in working towards regional biodiversity, healthy rivers and shorelines and sustainable communities.

The Mission:
TRCA staff leading community engagement programs will deliver: Community engagement that deepens and broadens engagement, fosters longer term relationships and builds capacity.
