Attention Peel homeowners! Ready to replace your air conditioner? You may be eligible to take advantage of our incentive program.
Through the collaborative efforts of the Sustainable Technologies Evaluation Program (STEP) and the Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP), Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is offering homeowners in the Region of Peel a $1,000 incentive for participating in the Hybrid Air Source Heat Pump Incentive Program.
You can watch this informative webinar to learn more about the benefits of installing an air source heat pump and find out how you can take advantage of the incentive program.
Why Install A Hybrid Air Source Heat Pump?
A hybrid air source heat pump (ASHP) is an upgrade over a central air conditioner. It uses electricity and looks the same as a central air conditioner, and it connects to the home in the same way. Like a central air conditioner, it provides the cooling for a home – but it also provides a large fraction of the heating as well.

Examples of air source heat pumps.
Due to the rising costs of natural gas, the combination of furnace and air source heat pump can have lower operating costs than other options, while also making less of an impact on the environment.
The ideal time to consider an air source heat pump is when your existing air conditioner is at end-of-life.
About the Hybrid
Air Source Heat Pump Incentive
This incentive looks to support homeowners who are replacing and/or have replaced their air conditioning unit with an upgrade to an energy efficient hybrid air source heat pump.
Five (5) $1,000 incentives are available to five (5) different homeowners living in the Region of Peel.
Participating homeowners can also obtain an additional incentive for up to $6,500 for a hybrid ASHP system through the HER+ program.
Homeowners must keep their existing furnace to participate in this incentive program. If your existing furnace is of significant age, it may not be recommended that homeowners participate in this program.
Furnaces have an expected lifetime and TRCA wants to ensure the best outcomes for each homeowner.

What Makes this Incentive Program Unique?
The hybrid air source heat pump incentive looks to support past and/or new installation of select hybrid heat pump systems (coils only) that are currently eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant and/or the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus Program (HER+).
Get more information on eligible heat pump systems from the Natural Resources Canada Incentive Database.
Accordingly, homeowners who receive the hybrid ASHP incentive will also be eligible to receive an incentive from the Canada Greener Homes Grant and/or the HER+ program for a heat pump installation.
