Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) conducted Major Maintenance along the Lake Ontario Shoreline in Port Union Waterfront Park in the City of Toronto. As a result of the work, TRCA was able to protect the multi-use Waterfront Trail.
Project Location
The project area was located within Port Union Waterfront Park at the base of Port Union Road, along the north shore of Lake Ontario, in Scarborough.

Scope of Work
- Start Date: April 2022
- Completion Date: December 2022
The scope of work for this project was to further reinforce an existing beach curb with an added armourstone revetment to provide enhanced long-term protection to the park path and Metrolinx rail line. The scope of work included the following:
- Constructing an armourstone wall in front of the existing beach curb
- Repairing existing beach curb
- Constructing nearshore reef habitat features (submerged)
- Spot repair damaged parts of Waterfront Trail
