Kortright’s renewable energy demonstrations provide an excellent opportunity to see and understand renewable energy first hand!

Curriculum connections: Science and Technology; Matter and Energy – Grade 1: Energy in our Lives, Grade 2: Properties of Liquids and Solids

This program introduces renewable energy sources- wind, wood, solar. Students learn the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy and resources. Students learn about wind energy, solar electric and solar thermal and wood energy, through observing working demonstrations, hands on activities and games.

To optimize the learning experience during this program, it would be helpful if your students were familiar with some of the keywords noted above. Programs always have an outdoor component. Groups should dress for the conditions on the day of their visit. Before your visit, please discuss the importance of dressing appropriately for outdoor activities. On days of inclement weather the program will be modified to include some indoor activities along with the outdoor components.
