In this half-day Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) certification course, students will learn about the components and natural features of a watershed, as well as land use patterns and effects, and the importance of managing watersheds to ensure healthy environments.

An emphasis will be placed on the impact of the Oak Ridges Moraine in controlling groundwater movement and quality, as well as on the role of conservation authorities in watershed management.

Outdoor activities may include the investigation of a kettle lake aboard a solar pontoon boat to gain an understanding of overall watershed health, or a hike to examine watershed features and stressors.
