In this three-hour Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) certification, students will gain an understanding of the importance of native species to the health of terrestrial ecosystems and benefits to residential yard spaces, as well as the distinction between native and invasive species; learn meadow/garden native plant identification using identification keys in field guides; and learn about community science apps – for both species identification as well as contribution to shared online science databases.
