The GTA’s Only Canadian Heritage River!

  • The Humber River is designated as a Canadian Heritage River and is the only river to receive this designation in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • Due to its rich cultural and recreational history and the important role it played during the settlement of Peel Region and Canada, the Humber River is one of only 41 designated heritage rivers in Canada to receive this title!
  • People have lived along the banks of the Humber River for at least 10,000 years!
