On Friday, March 1, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) unveiled a newly constructed Workshop building for staff and a renovated Chalet for visitors within Albion Hills Conservation Park, marking a significant milestone in the park’s history.
Albion Hills Conservation Park opened its doors in the late 1950s, offering thousands of visitors the opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors, take part in a variety of recreational activities, and reap the physical and mental health benefits of being immersed in nature. Over the years, the park has seen many modifications to support its evolving needs.
Now thanks to the support of the Region of Peel and the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, TRCA has breathed new life into Albion Hills with a new Workshop building, enhancements to the Chalet, and improvements to roadway and parking lot pavement.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, John MacKenzie, Chief Executive Officer of TRCA, and Mario Russo, Regional Councillor, Town of Caledon and member of TRCA’s Board of Directors, shared their thoughts and remarks.
John MacKenzie expressed appreciation to the funding partners whose generosity allowed this transformation to happen. He also acknowledged the dedicated TRCA staff whose efforts turned this dream into a reality.
The new Workshop boasts two floors dedicated to office and storage space and is equipped with amenities such as heat pump heating and provisions for future EV car charging. This new building exemplifies TRCA’s commitment to sustainable design.
The upgrades to the Chalet include roof and insulation replacement, new concrete walkways, and a revamped interior, as well as a new deck and gazebo offering picturesque views. These upgrades promise an engrossing experience for all visitors, especially those who are nature enthusiasts.
