February 23, 2024, Toronto, ON — Today, at Toronto and Region Conservation Authority’s (TRCA) Annual General Meeting, Councillor Paul Ainslie, representing the City of Toronto’s Scarborough-Guildwood ward, was appointed through acclamation Chair of TRCA’s Board of Directors.
Councillor Ainslie has been a member of TRCA’s Board since February 2006 and brings over 25 years of governmental experience to the role, including positions on numerous boards and committees. As Chair, Councillor Ainslie will preside over TRCA’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings.
Mayor Dave Barton of the Township of Uxbridge was appointed through acclamation Vice-Chair of TRCA’s Board of Directors. He has been a Board member since January 2023.
Representing the Trail Capital of Canada, Mayor Barton is an avid outdoor enthusiast and was a strong proponent of Ontario’s first urban provincial park in the Township of Uxbridge. He previously sat on the boards of the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
