Wilket Creek Erosion Control Minor Works Project

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) has proposed to undertake remedial erosion control works along Wilket Creek within Windfields Park to provide long-term protection to private and public property from the hazards of erosion.

Project Location

The project area is located within Windfields Park below Tudor Gate, near the intersection of York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue.

Project Background

This site was identified as a priority site to TRCA in 2021. This reach of Wilket Creek experienced significant erosion of the existing revetment during periods of high flow. The existing protective material was displaced, the stream bank was undercut, and material on the stream bank eroded away.

Scope of Work

The proposed scope of work for this project includes completing erosion control works along the banks of Wilket Creek below Tudor Gate to ensure long-term stability and provide protection to infrastructure, private and public property.

Throughout 2024, TRCA intends to:

  • Obtain final detailed designs for the erosion control works
  • Obtain all necessary permits, approvals, and agreements
  • Begin construction in Fall 2024, pending the completion of permits, approvals, agreements, and detailed designs
  • Restore site with native vegetation plantings and trail repairs as required

Construction Information

Construction will begin in October 2024 and will be completed in November 2024. TRCA will update this webpage as construction milestones are completed. Click the link below to view the Notice of Construction that can be found at all site access points:

This notice includes detour routes. But the detour route can also be found here below:

Public Notices

Following completion of planning activities, TRCA will install construction signage to notify trail uses of the trail closures and detour routes. Please see a copy of the Notice of Construction signage showing detour routes below. Originally, TRCA and City of Toronto staff planned to re-open the trail after work hours, but upon further discussion it was determined that due to the short length of the project and for the health and safety of the public, it would be best to provide detours around the construction area instead.
