This program begins with a general review of the water cycle through an indoor game. Students are then introduced to the concept of a watershed and why it is important to maintain healthy watersheds.
Students will identify on a map the watershed they live in. A groundwater model will be used to demonstrate underground water movements.
In the outdoor portion of the program, students will tour the Lake St. George property while discussing topics such as the parts and natural features of a watershed, land use patterns, and the impact of urban development and other factors. Water quality testing may also be conducted.
