Participants will brainstorm the uses of trees by people and natural ecosystems.
Students will discuss the characteristics that can be used to identify trees, and then create their own key using a combination of new and familiar terminology.
In the field, participants will go on a self-guided tour with a map and apply their identification key to selected tree species.
