This half-day Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) certification program focuses on the critical role that microorganisms play in aquatic ecosystems.
Using plankton nets, sieves, and other equipment, students will collect plankton samples.
After a brief review of classification, slide preparation, and microscope work, students will use available resources to identify, sketch, and photograph various plankton found on their microscope slides.
Schools must provide their own microscopes.
