Program Levels:
Course Types:
This program immerses your students in the lives of animals living in the forest. Students become carnivores, omnivores and/or herbivores in an exciting and active simulation game.
Through a fun, hands-on experience, students will explore predator-prey relationships, food chains and energy pyramids. Following an introduction to the curriculum, scientific concepts and rules for safe game play, students will proceed to a well-marked forested area to play the Instincts for Survival game. A conclusion reviews concepts presented in this memorable game.
Preparation:
Programs always have an outdoor component. Groups should dress for the conditions on the day of their visit. Before your visit, please discuss the importance of dressing appropriately for outdoor activities. On days of inclement weather the program will be modified to include some indoor activities along with the outdoor components.
Students must have proper footwear (running shoes or hiking shoes; no sandals or open-toed shoes) in order to participate. Students must not wear jewelry or watches on the day of your visit.
