Note: A Water Safety Watershed Conditions Statement may be issued when there are high flows, unsafe banks, melting ice or other factors that could be dangerous for recreational users such as anglers, canoeists, hikers, children, pets, etc. Flooding is not expected.

Weather Conditions:

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is cancelling its FLOOD WARNING that was issued on September 2, 2026 at 6:10 PM and downgrading to a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety.

TRCA advises that the weather system that brought significant rainfall to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has now passed. No significant rainfall is forecasted by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for the TRCA jurisdiction today.

Issues:

Flooding is not expected in TRCA watersheds, however due to the total rainfall already received water levels in rivers will continue to be higher and flowing faster than usual for the foreseeable future.

The ground is already saturated because TRCA watersheds received rainfall amounts from 10 mm to 112.4 mm on September 2, 2026 which will limit the ability to absorb more rainfall.

Actions:

• Stay safe around water by avoiding rivers, streams, and nearby trails and by keeping children and pets away from fast moving water and slippery banks.

• Consider postponing recreational activities during this time due to higher river water levels and flows and unstable riverbanks.

• Travel with caution by allowing extra time for commuting and watch for ponding in low-lying areas and underpasses, or near storm drains.

• Stay informed by following local weather forecasts, and public alerts from Environment Canada.

• Share flood safety information by keeping neighbours informed, especially those without internet access.

• Municipalities and emergency services are encouraged to monitor water conditions and share safety information about public safety hazards such as high flows and unstable riverbanks.
