Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), along with the City of Mississauga and Peel Region, are working closely with community members, residents, and businesses to develop the Malton SNAP project: a holistic approach to creating a more sustainable and resilient community.

About the Malton SNAP Neighbourhood

The Malton SNAP neighbourhood is primarily located within the Mimico Creek watershed and intersects with the Humber River watershed.

the Old Malton neighourhood

The neighbourhood is East of Highway 427, North of Finch Avenue, West of CN Railway Corridor and Torbram Road and Metrolinx Railway Corridor, and South of Derry Road and Cattrick Street.

The Malton SNAP boundary includes all the residential areas within Malton, as well as two adjacent employment areas.

This neighbourhood is home to approximately 36,000 people. There are numerous parks, schools and places of worship, as well as a community centre.

The Malton SNAP Action Plan

About the Plan

The Malton SNAP project aims to develop an Action Plan which integrates local community interests, sustainability goals, and municipal and partner priorities to revitalize the Malton neighbourhood.

This plan will target a range of environmental, social, and health-related issues within the neighbourhood to enhance the quality of life in the community while building climate resilience and encouraging sustainable practices.

The following provides a high-level summary of the workplan and project phases.

  • Kickstart project

  • Work with the community to identify key issues and neighbourhood context

  • Identify emerging themes and initial project and program ideas

Phase 3: Neighbourhood Action Plan
  • Workshop #2 with key stakeholders to identify potential actions
  • Draft Action Plan for public review and comment
Q1 to Q3 2026
