TRCA Youth Council Town Hall: Focus on Fashion

Are you curious about how fast fashion and even your own fashion choices might be affecting our environment? Do you want to learn more about how sustainability fits in the world of fashion design at one of our local universities?
Join us for an engaging virtual event where we will be joined by guest panelists Dr. Miriam Diamond, Professor, University of Toronto; Narishdath Maraj, Fashion Designer at Narishdath Maraj Design INC. and Creative Director at m polo designs; and Tricia Crivellaro, Designer/Researcher/Educator at the School of Fashion (TMU).
6:30 – 7:30 pm: Presentation by Dr. Miriam Diamond on Fast Fashion; a deep dive into fast fashion and its impacts on the environment and society as a whole. Learn what is really in and on some of our fabrics! A Q&A session will follow.
7:30 – 8:30 pm: Presentation by Narishdath Maraj and Tricia Crivellaro Grenier on the TMU Rebranding Project and Upcycled Fashion Event. This presentation will explore the creative process behind the collection, the impact of upcycling in reducing fashion waste, and how institutions can implement similar circular economy strategies. We will also hear about efforts being taken by TMU Fashion Team as part of their Fashion Sustainability Initiative. A Q&A session will follow.
