Pedal The Spit: An Exploration of
Tommy Thompson Park

Get outside and learn all about Toronto’s Urban Wilderness at the TRCA Youth Council Fall Retreat!

This is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals while exploring one of Toronto’s beautiful outdoor spaces, learn more about the history of Tommy Thompson Park (TTP), and get to know all about the land, water, plants, and animals that TTP their home.

Guided by Susan Harris and Harvey Skinner from the York University Wellness Impact Lab, along with TRCA’s Tisha Tan, participants will enjoy hot chocolate and conversation, take part in a climate anxiety wellness activity, and be guided on an informative tour of TTP on quadcycles! Lunch and refreshments will be provided!

The event is FREE, but registration is required.

Event Details:

• Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024
• Time: 11:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.
• Address: Tommy Thompson Park, 1 Leslie Street, Toronto
• Directions (By car): The park entrance is located at Leslie Street and Unwin Avenue. This is five minutes east of the DVP/Gardiner junction along Lake Shore Blvd East.
• Parking: There is a free parking lot at the Tommy Thompson Park entrance. Street parking is also available on Leslie Street and Unwin Avenue.
• Directions (By TTC): Tommy Thompson Park is a five minute walk from the Commissioners Street bus stop at Commissioners and Leslie. This stop is serviced by the 83 Jones Southbound bus. Route 83 runs between Donlands Station on Subway Line 2 and Commissioners Street. Connections with Streetcar routes 501, 502, 503 and 506, and bus routes 56 and 31B along the scheduled route.
• Directions (By foot/bike): The Martin Goodman Trail/Waterfront Trail passes Tommy Thompson Park between Woodbine Beach and Cherry Beach. This is a multi-use trail.

Cancellation policy: The event will run rain or shine, but will be canceled if there is a greater than 70% chance of thunderstorm or other hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the event if there is a cancellation.
