Ever wondered how our resident feathered friends adapt to our winter climate?

Every year, birds travel thousands of kilometers on a perilous journey to warmer climates to avoid the winter cold. However, a number of them stay behind and brave the winter.

Why don’t they leave, and how do they survive – and even thrive – in the harshest season Canada has to offer?

This event is intended for a general audience:

  • Beginner level information
  • Includes intermediate concepts
  • Content intended for older youth and adults

The event will run rain or shine, but will be canceled if there is a chance of thunderstorms or other hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event if there is a cancelation.

This event is part of a series of educational birding programs taking place at Tommy Thompson Park this winter and is generously funded by the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.
