They’re big, they’re destructive, and they might be coming our way! A group of invasive fishes called the Asian carps are some of the greatest threats to the Great Lakes. What threat do they pose to our environment, and what can we do? This guided walk will teach participants everything they need to know about Asian carps and how they could impact aquatic ecosystems in Toronto.

Join us for this event in Toronto’s urban wilderness: Tommy Thompson Park. Participants will partake in a guided exploration of two different aquatic ecosystems and view the infrastructure in place that prevents the spread of invasive fish species. We will discover some of the fascinating native species that live in the park and learn more about how they would be affected by the arrival of Asian carps in Canada.

Meeting Location: The Nature Centre at Tommy Thompson Park. Limited street parking is available as signed on Leslie Street. The Nature Centre is less than a 10-minute walk from the entrance to the park.

Registration is required for this event, and walk-ins will not be accepted. Registration includes sharing your contact information for contact tracing purposes, signing a waiver and completing a self-assessment for COVID-19. Each individual must fill out a waiver separately (including those under the age of 18).
