On behalf of Beth Williston and the TRCA Environmental Assessment Planning Department:
We are hosting our yearly workshop that will help you navigate our Environmental Assessment (EA) and permit application process. Facilitated by a multi-disciplinary team of planners, ecologists and engineers from the TRCA EA Planning department, this workshop is tailor-made for municipal project managers and consultants who have to submit EAs and permit applications for infrastructure projects under Ontario Regulation 166/06.
The first half of the workshop features an introduction to the legislation and policy framework that guides TRCA’s responsibilities under the Environmental Assessment Act and Conservation Authorities Act. The remainder of the session focuses on various technical design requirements, including erosion and sediment control measures, restoration and compensation requirements, design of watercourse crossings, stormwater management criteria and low impact development measures. Participants are encouraged to engage in collaborative discussions throughout the day.
Participants will gain an understanding of the TRCA EA and permit review process and complete submissions, drawings, details and studies to our Planning staff with greater competency. Discussion will also include planning and design provisions to help build the resiliency of infrastructure projects to climate change.
