Become a Citizen Science and/or Community Event Volunteer and assist TRCA staff with priority projects by participating in a variety of volunteer restoration and community engagement opportunities!

Register for this virtual Volunteer Orientation Session to learn more about getting involved!

*Note: This event is taking place via Zoom. After registration, you will be emailed a link to join the webinar.

Opportunities include:

  • Wildlife surveys and monitoring
  • Invasive species management
  • Site maintenance and monitoring
  • Pollinator and Medicine Wheel Garden maintenance
  • Community Learning events (e.g. guided hikes, educational booths, clean ups, etc.)
  • Public engagement in the Meadoway
  • … and more!

Through these opportunities, volunteers will discover and appreciate local greenspaces, and will help make these areas more resilient and adaptable. Volunteers will enjoy learning about and engaging with the local environment by participating in a variety of restoration initiatives across the GTA.

Things you need to know:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Volunteer opportunities are spread across the TRCA jurisdiction – some locations are not accessible by transit
  • All volunteers are required to participate in on-site training sessions
  • Volunteers will be working outdoors, sometimes in physically demanding environments

Ideal volunteers are:

  • Comfortable working outdoors in a team environment
  • Experienced with field data collection and environmental monitoring
  • Comfortable interacting with the public at community events with excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledgeable about local wildlife, native plants, environmental conservation, and related topics 
  • Interested in gardening/planting trees and working outdoors
