Birding by Snowshoe

Discover the wonders of winter wildlife! Join us to learn about the diversity of bird species that live at Tommy Thompson Park during the winter months and how to identify them.

We’ll also learn how to snowshoe and wear them on our birding adventure through Toronto’s Urban Wilderness!

You can choose between two time slots: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Snowshoes, binoculars, and field guides will be provided. Please dress for the weather, including layered clothing and winter boots. In the event of a snow-free day, join us for a winter waterfowl hike through Tommy Thompson Park.

The event will run rain or shine, but will be cancelled if there is a greater than 70% chance of hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the event if there is a cancellation.

We’ll meet at the Tommy Thompson Park Nature Centre, which is an approximately 10-minute hike from the entrance.

This event is intended for Ages 6+:

  • Beginner level information
  • Activities and concepts that are friendly for all ages
  • Intended audience includes children, youth, and adults
