Opening Ceremonies: Join us for some short opening remarks and a song as we kick-off Canada’s largest ever celebration of citizen science and biodiversity.
Activity Alley: Featuring 15 – 20 organizations who will provide educational and engaging activities such as games, crafts, and food tasting. Visit each partner to collect exclusive Rouge National Urban Park biodiversity trading cards.
Newchoir Performance: Join a singing flashmob with Newchoir, Toronto’s top rock choir. This musical group challenges the con- ventional definition of what a choir really is.
Owlkids and CBC Kids: For our younger audience, Owlkids and CBC Kids will be hosting a birthday party for Chirp with songs, dance, and a giant cupcake! Kids get a chance to meet buddies Chirp and Parka and partake in activities like scavenger hunts, photo missions, and colouring.
Kids Play Zone: Kids can get active with a bouncy castle, a rock climbing wall, and the Wild About Canada – POP-UP Adventure Playground, hosted by Earth Day Canada, all for free!
Animal Shows: The Toronto Zoo, Sciensational Sssnakes!!, Wild Ontario, and Bugs without Borders will be showcasing the best of biodiversity with visits from local snakes, birds, mammals, and insects.
Food Truck Hollow: Festival-goers and bioblitzers alike can take a break for lunch or grab a snack from one of the vendors in our Food Truck Hollow. A selection of both savoury and sweet options will be available.
Renewable Energy Stations: To ensure that we’re doing our part for the environment there will be sustainable components such as bicycle- powered charging stations, solar energy trailers, and eco-friendly waste management.
Shuttle Bus/Accessibility: Complimentary shuttle buses will be running from downtown Toronto. The festival site is also accessible by TTC.
