In partnership with Birds Canada and the Pickering Naturalists, Environmental Stewardship Pickering is hosting a Winter Bird Count: A fun, family-friendly bird watching event that promotes nature appreciation and environmental stewardship.

Join us at Pickering Nuclear Information Centre for a short presentation and some hot chocolate, before we head out to explore Pickering’s lakefront for winter birds!

Everyone is welcome, from beginner to expert birders! Binoculars will be provided.

This event offers opportunities to build bird identification skills and contribute to important citizen science work. We will be spending most of our time outside so please dress warmly.

This event is intended for Ages 6+:

  • Beginner level information
  • Activities and concepts that are friendly for all ages
  • Intended audience includes children, youth, and adults
